It has been one long and eventful week in our classroom and I'm not ashamed to admit I can't wait for this holiday weekend to start! I feel like there's just not enough hours in the day to get everything I need done! With that being said, your packets with all of our class info will now be going home on Tuesday so I can have more time this weekend to add to them and get them like I want them.
Your kids should have brought home their tiger folder tonight with 3 papers inside. Two of these need to be returned: the grandparents day lunch (so the cafeteria can get an accurate count) as well as our school picture forms.
Even though it is a holiday weekend, I will be working on school things to hopefully get closer to finishing up our classroom. I know it doesn't all have to be done right now, but to be honest it just drives me nuts to not see a complete classroom. So, this weekend will be filled with making helper charts, putting our daily 5 together, redoing our class behavior management system, as well as SO much more! So please enjoy your holiday weekend for the both of us : )
I am also added pictures in the classroom section so you can see how our class has looked this week...even though more is being added.
HW tonight was to finish your "me bag"
Our first day of school is now behind us. During our first day we did several fun activities as well as began learning our classroom and school expectations. We are still learning these today, but your children should be able to come home tonight and recite (as well as show you the signs) to our 5 class rules we went over in class today. If they are having a hard time remembering, remind them of the fish, talker, walker, good choices, and (my favorite) dear teacher. We will continue to work on these several times a day until we've got them down to ensure our class runs smoothly. We have also read a few books, as well as talked about bullying. Our class now knows that I, nor our school, will allow or put up with any bullying on campus. Bullying is a big deal to me and I refuse to put up with any form in my classroom.
I am working on a letter home to you all informing you of all the important information regarding how our class works and what to expect which should be coming home with your children in their tiger folder at the end of this week. Please sign their tiger planner this weekend letting me know you have received this as well as gone over it with your child so they know their parents know the expectations they are supposed to follow while at school. They also have three assignments for homework tonight they should have written in their planner:
reading: read for 15 minutes
science: have a parent sign their science contract and return to school
social studies:me bag
The day is almost here! I hope you all get a great night of sleep tonight and come to school awake and excited to meet all your new friends in your class and begin our school year off great!
